As the Vaccine-Themed Medical Statistician for the Oxford BRC, I support innovative research into vaccination for chronic diseases and aging, as well as strategies for the prevention and treatment of persistent viral infections—including HIV, HBV, and HCV—within the Oxford NDM Experimental Medicine Division. I also provide statistical expertise and consultancy to the Malaria and GonoVac Research Groups at the Oxford University Jenner Institute, dedicating up to 30% of my time to these collaborations.

Short Biography


Dr. Clement Twumasi is a Medical Statistician at the Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM), University of Oxford. He provides essential statistical expertise to the Oxford BRC's Life-saving Vaccines Theme, supporting a wide range of studies and clinical trials. In addition, he also provide statistical consultancy services to the Malaria and GonoVac Research Groups within the Oxford University Jenner Institute over 30% of his time. He also collaborates with the Oxford Vaccine Group on some research projects/clinical trials. Before rejoining the University of Oxford, Dr. Twumasi worked as a Clinical Trials Statistician at Imperial College London's School of Public Health. In 2022, he served as a postdoctoral researcher in biostatistics at Oxford University's Department of Statistics. Dr. Twumasi earned his PhD in Mathematics from Cardiff University in 2021 as a Vice Chancellor's Scholar. His doctoral research focused on developing novel mathematical and stochastic simulation models to study biological systems. With a strong foundation in mathematics and statistics, Dr. Twumasi has an impressive academic record and a proven track record of contributing to impactful research in medical statistics and clinical trials. He has a strong and diverse publication record spanning multiple research areas and disciplines, and serves as a reviewer for leading Q1 journals, including the International Journal of ForecastingPLOS One Journal, and PLOS Computational Biology Journal.
