Vaccinology in Africa Course

The University of Oxford has developed a highly regarded annual “Vaccinology in Africa” course with a competition for the places offered each year at no cost to the attendees.

These courses have been running since 2013, under the leadership of the Jenner Institute, alternating between West and East Africa. The courses covers the main aspects of vaccinology, the vaccine development process, biomanufacturing, regulatory and ethical topics. It is uniquely hosted in Africa with an exceptional faculty of African and international academic and industry speakers, highlighting human and veterinary synergies in keeping with the ‘One Health’ agenda. The course is specifically aimed at students, researchers and professionals resident in Africa.

Funds were allocated to run this course for East Africa delegates in 2021. Due to the pandemic this course was run virtually during this reporting period from 4-15th Oct 2021.
