Reinaldo Acevedo Grogues
Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Gonococcal Vaccine Group
Vaccinologist and Immunologist with more than 15 years of experience. Dr Acevedo has worked in rational design of vaccine formulations and evaluation using in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo models (animals and humans). Particularly, in the field of adjuvants, immuno-stimulators and delivery systems derived from microorganisms. He worked in Research and Development (R&D) of nano and microparticles obtained from Neisseria meningitidis, Vibrio cholerae and Mycobacterium (among others) to develop formulations against infectious pathogens as well as delivery vehicles for viral antigens, tumoral antigens, allergens and addictive drugs. He has experience in fermentation, extraction, purification and quality control of outer membrane vesicles from bacteria and cochleate derivatives (R&D), also in the characterization of supramolecular structures and immunological evaluation, particularly innovative work with mucosal vaccine candidates.
