Lukasz Grudzien

Technology Transfer Specialist

I am currently working as a Process Development & Technology Transfer Specialist within the Gonoccocal Vaccine Project. My role is to develop a manufacturing process for outer membrane vesicles (OMV), to be used in a vaccination against Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

I have extensive experience in process development and the analytical techniques used in bioprocessing, which I have gained by working for several years in various CMC departments. Prior to my current role, I worked in industry as a scientific lead in the development of the manufacturing process for viral vectors used in a gene therapy.

Before this, I was the lead person on the formulation studies that were used to develop final buffers for a protein receptor based pharmaceutical to be used in clinical trials. I have also worked on optimisation of purification and fermentation methods used for in-house production and then worked in product manufacturing at a GMP faciliy.

I did my PhD in Bioprocessing part-time while I was working as a member of The Advanced Bioprocessing Centre at Brunel University in London. I had the sole responsibility for the development of downstream purification methods in production of biological therapeutics, with a specialism in chromatography.
