The Institute's research activities are grouped into the below listed vaccine programmes covering a wide range of human and veterinary diseases. Each programme is headed by one or several Jenner Investigators. The Investigators are independent researchers located at different sites of the University of Oxford or the The Pirbright Institute. Two Jenner Investigators are also located at the Animal and Plant Health Agency. Administration and facilitation of collaborations between Jenner Investigators and researchers is undertaken at the Jenner Institute Laboratories, where the Institute's Core Facilities are also located. The clinical activities of the Institute are at the Centre for Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine, with strong links to field trial units in developing countries. Uniquely for an academic setting, the Jenner Institute is able to manufacture own vaccines for Phase I and II clinical trials according to EU GMP via the MHRA authorised Clinical BioManufacturing Facility(CBF) . In addition to manufacturing, the CBF also undertakes QP Certification and labelling of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs, manufactured either by the CBF or third parties) for clinical trials. The CBF also supports the Jenner Investigators by facilitating the importation of IMPs from outside the EU.
