Immune profiling in TB infection and disease

Research

I am an academic clinical fellow and have recently joined the Jenner Institute initially for a year but planning to stay in the group for a DPhil before returning to complete my clinical speciality training . I am studying the immune profiles of patients with latent TB.

For my DPhil I am proposing to characterise the immune and gene expression profile in patients with a new diagnosis of TB disease, the change in immune profile with treatment and evaluate the effect of HIV infection on this profile. For my DPhil I will be recruiting patients in a clinical setting, monitoring their clinical progression and translating these into cellular and molecular immunological experiments in the laboratory. I am based at the Jenner Institute where I am performing immunological assays and gene expression studies.

In addition to my research training I am currently enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Research at the Oxford University and a clinical tutor at Magdalen College teaching final year medical students.
