A number of vaccines being developed by Jenner Investigators are manufactured to GMP clinical grade at the University's Clinical Biomanufacturing Facility.
The Clinical BioManufacturing Facility produces biological Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs) according to the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for early phase clinical trials. It has a Manufacturer’s Authorisation for Investigational Medicinal Products from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency(MHRA) and has 3 nominated Qualified Persons(QP).
The CBF aims to provide the link between academic research and clinical drug development, to allow Universty researchers and private sector collaborators to make rapid progress into clinical trials.
The Clinical Biomanufacturing Facility is currently working on three projects, one of which is in GMP production (vaccine against liver-stage Malaria), while the other two are in the process development phase (vaccines against pandemic Flu and prostate cancer). Each project which enters the CBF must go through a rigorous in-house process development stage in which parameters are optimised for large-scale production.
